About the HPCC Fire
The Hermit's Peak and Calf Canyon Fires
The Hermit's Peak and Calf Canyon fires burned over 300,000 acres of New Mexico's forests after prescribed burns initiated by the United States Forest Service spread out of control. The fires caused significant damage across the Mora, San Miguel, and Pecos areas.
The resulting federal settlement of $5.5 billion represents one of the largest disaster recovery funds in U.S. history. Our wildfire work also includes support for people affected by the Cerro Pelado, Las Tusas, and Laguna fires.
