David D. Mendes
David D. Mendes was born in Santa Barbara, California and moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico shortly after his first birthday. He was raised in New Mexico and California and considers both states home. David is a member of the first graduating class of Soka University of America, where he received his undergraduate in liberal arts with an emphasis in international studies. Prior to practicing law, David was a successful business development and consulting professional and has extensive experience advising business owners and senior managers.
David graduated from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 2014, and was honored with the Lynda Latta Family Law Advocacy Award for his work representing indigent clients through the UNM Law Clinic. As a law student, David was a State Bar of New Mexico Arturo J. Jaramillo Summer Fellow and clerked for the State of New Mexico Risk Management Division Legal Bureau and Roybal-Mack & Cordova, P.C. David also served as the President of the Mexican American Law Student Association (MALSA). For his term, MALSA was awarded the 2013 American Bar Association National Achievement Award for Diversity for substantially advancing access to legal education for underrepresented minorities from throughout both urban and rural communities in New Mexico.
Prior to rejoining Roybal-Mack & Cordova, P.C., David previously served as an Assistant District Attorney for Bernalillo County, as an attorney with the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia and on Capitol Hill as a Congressional Fellow for Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham (D-NM). David has extensive experience in domestic relations, DWI and domestic violence, personal injury, tort claims, and general civil litigation.
